

Alice Morgan Ottinger (Granny) age 91, Greeneville, passed away January 5, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on August 16, 1933, to Rev. W. E. and Athene Morgan in Chattanooga, TN. She moved to Greeneville, TN after graduating from Bethel college with a teaching degree and worked at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She married Wayne M Ottinger in 1958. She worked as a school teacher at Camp Creek until she became a mom in 1960. She was the owner of Acorn Gifts in the 90’s. After retiring from the gift store, she enjoyed time sharing her faith with others through small bible study group in her home. She loved her faith, family, and friends. Throughout her retirement years, she took care of her grandson, Daniel, watching him grow into a man and becoming a dad of his own. She enjoyed her many groups of friends especially “The Gang” going on trips and playing games.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant child: Annette Ottinger; her husband of 25 years and daughter-in-law: Susan Ottinger.
She is survived by her sons: Mark (Starr) Ottinger and Jeff Ottinger; grandson: Daniel (April) Ottinger; great grandchildren: Daniel Jr., Jeremiah, Brelyn, Caleb and Asher; special cousins and special nieces and nephews and many special friends.
She said to tell everyone she loved them and will meet them at the “Eastern Gate.”
The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 pm on Wednesday with the funeral service following at 7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Collins and Pastor Lee Brown will officiate.
Interment will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday at Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 am Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Gooden, Dustin Bailey, David Bailey, Jon Taylor, Dillen Dotson, Charlie Paxton, Mike Franklin and David Price.
