Betty Ann Bowman Belcher

Her career was mostly in finance, serving as branch manager for Home Federal S&L and retiring from First Tennessee Bank in 1984 to strike out on a travel adventure with her husband, Clarence Belcher, as owner-operators of a tractor-trailer. They traveled cross country until his untimely death in 1985.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her interests included family, reading, music, and traveling. Betty was an active, dedicated member of Greeneville First Free Will Baptist Church, serving in music and youth ministries. She also sang with the Starlight Trio in local churches in the 1970’s. In her later years, she attended Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, health permitting.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Clarence Belcher; her parents, Rev. Marion Lee (a.k.a. Preacher Bowman) and Anna Cutshall Bowman; siblings: Naomi Collins, Tommy Bowman; six infant siblings; great grandchild, Kristian; and many wonderful in-laws.

Survivors include her daughter: Mitzi Bailey of Greeneville (grandchildren Travis and Anna); her sons and daughters-in-law: Donny and Sandra Belcher of Greeneville (grandchildren Shane and Courtney and great grandchildren Morgan and Abigail), Mike and Susan Belcher of Chuckey (grandchild Carmen and great grandchild Etta), Rick and Amy Belcher of Johnson City (grandchildren Daniel, Steven, Matthew, and Sarah and great grandchild Rowan); and special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from work and church.

The family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Doyle Pruitt officiating.

Interment will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Travis Bailey, Shane O’Brien, Derrick Bryant, Daniel, Steven, and Matthew Belcher.

Honorary pallbearers are Dennis and Eddie Renner, Denny Franklin, J. H. Wilhoit, and Jimmy Shepherd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc.

The family would like to thank Family Ministries of John M. Reed Center, Franklin and Kyle Elder Law, and Smoky Mountain Hospice for their efforts, care, and dedication.

Betty’s family and friends will miss her greatly, but are comforted knowing she is at peace.
