Betty Jean Smith

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Kyle R. Smith; a daughter, Vicki (Smith) Culler; son-in-law Tommy Culler; a son, Rick Smith, and daughter-in-law Sandra Smith. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tonya Chandley, Bridget (Chandley) Jennings, Christopher Smith, Angie Edwards, and Sarah Smith; three beloved siblings: sister Vivian (Gregory) Baxley of Atlanta, brothers Benjamin (Buddy) Gregory of Jefferson City and James (Jimmy) Gregory and sister-in-law Mickey Gregory of Sevierville; eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, four nieces, four nephews, many special cousins and friends too numerous to count.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Remer and Leona (Hardin) Gregory and grandmother (Mummie), Molly Kiza (Weems) Hardin with whom she spent many hours and first learned of her love of making things grow. She is also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Mark Baxley and sister-in-law Regina (Raber) Gregory.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed working beside her husband on the farm.

She was a native Greene Countian who grew up and graduated in the city but was truly a country girl at heart and deeply enjoyed working in her garden. She was a Greeneville High School graduate, where she was a dedicated athlete and played basketball and was also a majorette. She was a much loved personality wherever she was, including the former Rocking Horse dress store, House of Hidden Treasures, and all of the numerous flea markets where she spent many, many hours of enjoyment. She loved meeting new people and counted each and every person as a friend. She loved and adored her family and welcomed one and all into her home. She attended Oak Grove Free Will Baptist and was an avid believer in Jesus Christ, her Savior. She volunteered in their clothing ministry for years and had many loving friends and fellow church members.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Rodney Bailey will officiate.

Interment will follow at River Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Baxley, Jr., Brian Baxley, David Gregory, Jody Whaley, Michael Gregory, Adam Whaley, Ben Gregory, Jr. and David Jennings.
