He was a machinist at J&J Tool and Die for more than 40 years.

He was a member of Kingsley Avenue Free Will Baptist Church.

He was a NASCAR enthusiast and a Dale Earnhardt fan and an avid ginseng hunter.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Betty Franklin; children: Cindy King and her husband, Gary, Lisa Emmett and her husband, David, Amy Cutshaw, and Mickey Franklin and his wife, Bobbi; grandchildren: Chad Meeks, who was very special to him, Chasity Burdine, Kristie Goad and her husband, Steven, Kellie Emmett, Whitney Cutshaw, Colt Cutshaw, Derek Franklin and his wife, Kayla, Patrick Franklin and his wife, Brittney, Justin Franklin and his wife, Janezza, Betsy Sauceman and her husband, Anthony, Brittney Bernard and her husband, John, and Tony Franklin; great-grandchildren: Kelsie Meeks, Savanna Reynolds, Hayden Goad, Mya Goad, Jaci Lawing, Arabella Messer, Kinslee Sauceman, Kyle Franklin, Noah Bernard, Kurt Franklin, Tucker Sauceman, Mary Franklin, Neal Bernard, Nathaniel Bernard, Alex Franklin, Jensen Franklin, Austin Franklin, Hunter Franklin, Trent Franklin and Morgan Franklin; great-great-grandchildren: Nash Franklin Thompson and Selena Reynolds; one brother: Bob Franklin; two sisters: Phyllis Luttrell and Sue Morelock; special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Evelyn Kite, Elmina Johnson, Joyce Lamb and her husband, Clifford, Lloyd Ward, and Glenn Ward and his wife, Pat; several special nieces and nephews; and several special friends and close neighbors, including a very special friend, Jim Joseph.

He was a son of the late Tony and May Franklin. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Kyle “Moley” Franklin and Tom Franklin; two sons: Ricky Franklin and Robin Deyton; a father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herman and Alpha Ward; two brothers-in-law: Dale Kite and Harold Johnson; and a sister-in-law: Mitzi Ward.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Pruett officiating.

Family and friends are asked to meet 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Willoughby Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Denny Franklin, Allen Foshie, Jim Joseph, Mickey Franklin, Steven Goad, Glenn Ward, Gary King, David Emmett and Lloyd Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kingsley Avenue FWB Church and employees of J&J Tool & Die.

The family expressed a special thanks to Fresenius Kidney Care & Dialysis Center, EMS and Caris Health Care.
