
He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Mr. Wells was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church and was a U. S. Army veteran.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: William “Billy” and Betty Wells; a daughter and son-in-law: Betty and John Burley, all of Greeneville; grandchildren: Diane Johnson of Greeneville, Tammie Price of Knoxville; great grandchildren: B. J. Ricker and Jonathan Ricker, both of Greeneville, Emily Price, Maggie Price and Lily Price, all of Knoxville; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was the son of the late W. O. and Elizabeth Wells and was preceded in death by his wife,
Flora Holt Wells; and infant daughter, three brothers, Charles, John, and Merrill Wells; three
sisters, Lillian Wells, Alice Collins, and Emily Reed.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Rev. Yale Gunn
will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Drew Wells, DeWayne Wells, Joe Byrd, Faye Byrd, Jonathan Ricker, B. J. Ricker, Jim Holt, Bobby Wells and Hugh Wells.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Johnson, Joe Lane, Don Holt and Herbert Waddell.
At Mr. Wells request, there will be no formal visitation.
The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
