

Grover Cleveland Ricker, 77, of Signature Healthcare Center of Greeneville, formerly of Riles Circle, Greeneville, “went home to be with the Lord” Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Madison County, North Carolina on April 7, 1934 to the late Bee and Ruth Ricker. At an early age he moved with his family to Greene county.
Mr. Ricker had retired from North American Phillips Company.
He had been a resident of Signature Healthcare Center of Greeneville for the past three years due to recurrent episodes with cancer. He was well known and loved by the residents and staff who especially enjoyed his gospel singing. He enjoyed telling people about his Savior Jesus Christ and singing songs praising Him.
Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean and Billy Wilhoit, June and James Fellers, Rebecca “Becky” and Bill Davis, all of Greeneville; three brothers: Ralph Ricker, Jimmy Ricker, and Rex Ricker, all of Greeneville; a sister-in-law: Dolores Ricker; several nieces and nephews; a special friend: Melissa Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sudie Ricker; an infant son;
three brothers, Carl Ricker, Arlie Ricker, and Edward Ricker; and two infant sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his nephews and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joseph Scott, staff and residents of Signature Healthcare Center of Greeneville, staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, staff of Greene County – Greeneville EMS.
The family will receive friends 1-3 and 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery for the committal service.
