

James Wesley Stewart, age 69, of Greeneville, TN formerly of Dryden, VA, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA, after a brief battle with cancer. James was of the Christian faith.
He was born on February 14, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to the late Harold L. Stewart and Martha Kate (Stewart) Livesay.
James graduated from Pennington High School in 1972 and Mountain Empire Community College in 1974 in Big Stone Gap, VA. He retired after 41 years with the local telephone company, Embarq. He was a member of the Cash Pottery and Ham Radio Club, the Hardin’s Chapel Ruritan Club with 22 years of perfect attendance.
His interests were judging and showing cats, train enthusiast, but most of all, travelling and cruising with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Robin Freshour; stepfather, Harmon Livesay; father-in-law, Cleatis Freshour; brother-in-law, Steve Freshour.
He is survived by one sister, Kathy (Mike) Parsons of Pennington Gap, VA; half-brother, Mitchell (Sally) Livesay of Speedwell, TN; mother-in-law: Ina Freshour; sister-in-law: Darlene Freshour; nephew: T.J. (Laura) Freshour all of Greeneville, TN.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Cedar Creek Cemetery with Pastors Harrell Cobb, Paul Davis, Jr. and Garland Long officiating. Active pallbearers will be Larry White, Robert Kricko, Jerry Gillen, Grady Barefield, Kevin Easterly and Brady Freshour. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Shackleford, William Holt, Danny Rollins, Tim Tarlton, Bobby Joe Shipley and Dennis McNeese.
Special thanks to his closest friends: Larry White, Robert Kricko, Garland Long and Jerry Shackleford who helped so much in his time of need.
