

Mr. Davis retired as a former employee of Universal Steele Co. in Cleveland, Ohio; a former bus driver for Greene County School System, and a farmer.
He was a veteran of World War II, having been severely injured in 1945 when the ship Belleau Wood was hit by a Japanese plane and was the recipient of two purple hearts and other medals of recognition. Mr. Davis was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #42, member of V.F.W. Post # 1990 where he served on the Honor Guard for 8 years, American Legion Post # 64 and a member of Beersheba Masonic Lodge # 449.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Ruby Tweed Davis; one son: Billy Davis; two daughters: Debbie Davis and Donna Davis, both of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Shawn Johnson, Nathan Davis and spouse, Whitney, and Jerica Wallin, all of Greeneville; two great grandchildren: J. J. Johnson and Nevaeh Davis; one sister: Helen Shelton of Greeneville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ray and Pearl Elliott of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Harrison “Hack” and Bertie Blevins Davis and was preceded in death by a special daughter, Judy Davis George; five brothers, Willard, Wade, Ralph, Billy, and Cecil Davis; three sisters, Gladys Shelton, Libby Ward, and Jessie Britt; and a special nephew, Arnold Ward.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Pastor Tony Winkler and Chaplain Gregg Barlow officiating.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
His pallbearers are Travis Gregg, Willis Shivers, Mitchell Petrey, Gleason Wallin, Jimmy Morelock, Hugh Allen Davis, Cody Malone, and Tony Cutshaw.
Lynn Rollins, Charles and Ruthie Cutshall, Dr. Jim Radford, W. D. and Jana Solomon, James Davis of Palace Barber Shop, J. D. Crum, Noland Shelton, Bill Collins, Hugh Shipley, Johnny and Ann Cutshall, employees of Ma and Pa’s Restaurant,
members of Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 42 and Ladies Auxiliary, and members of V. F. W. Post #1990 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
