

“She was a graduate of Greeneville Business College and was employed by the Kingsport Press and Blue Ridge Glass. She taught piano at Jearoldstown and West Pine Schools and was a member of Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was pianist and youth leader for many years. She was also a member of the Zepher Trio and the Sunshine Quartet.”
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Terry and George English of Pleasant Hill; Glenda and Mike Crawford of Fall Branch; Kay Rutledge of Kingsport; grandchildren: Jennifer Sutherland and husband, Michael, of Kingsport; Greg English and wife, Jennifer, of Tullahoma, Tn; David Crawford and wife, Samantha, of Fall Branch
great grandchildren: Michaela Sutherland, Chloe Sutherland, both of Kingsport; Abigail English, Isabella English, both of Tullahoma; and Hunter Crawford of Fall Branch; sister-in-law and “good friend”: Mary Edythe Rutledge of Kingsport; “longtime friends”: J. C. and Marguerite Carter of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, and cousins
She was the daughter of the late Rev. A. A. and Maude Thompson Riggs and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harley G. Rutledge; and a brother, Sammy Riggs.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, in the Kiser Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Rex Brown
officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Crawford, Greg English, Michael Sutherland, Hank Harvey, Greg Smith, Jeff Bright, Bryan Smith, and Dennis Beamer. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Pierce, Ray English, Rex Jaynes, Jack Jaynes, Alton Crawford, and her friends in the Pleasant Hill and Oak Dale Communities.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home.
