She retired from Phillips Consumer Electronics after 42 years of service.
She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burgess loved to watch Nascar racing and could tell you anything about it. She liked making crafts, loved cooking for her family and especially loved gardening; her flowers could have won awards.
Survivors include: Drew and Wilma Bailey, James and Carolyn Burgess, all of the South Central community; Bill and Carolyn Burgess, Charles and Liz Burgess, all of Greeneville; grandchildren: Teresa Bailey, Stacy Bailey, Rhonda Burgess, Wayne Burgess, Tonya Percell, Jason Burgess, Allen Burgess and Chris Burgess; several great grandchildren; two nephews: John McAmis and Joe McAmis, both of the McDonald community.
She was the daughter of the late Alex and Maude McAmis and was preceded in death by her
husband, Cecil C. Burgess; one brother, Fancis (Pat) McAmis.
The funeral service will be held at 8 pm Thursday, September 26, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Clarence Gammill officiating. Entombment will be 10:30 am Friday, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Josh Ricker, Anthony Percell, Jason Burgess, Drew Bailey, Bill Burgess, Charles Burgess, James Burgess and Stacy Bailey.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:30 am Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
