

Mildred retired from Greeneville Recreation Center after many years of service. Mildred and Fred started “Teen Town” along with 3 other couples. Mildred and Fred were honored By Mayor W. T. Daniels for their many years of dedication and involvement in the youth and young adults of Greene County. Mildred was an avid camper who traveled all over the continental U. S. with her family but always called Greeneville home. She loved to play ROOK and to quilt, earning various ribbons at fairs. She was always active in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives, as they were the light of hers. Mildred was truly loved and admired by everyone who came in contact with her. She will forever be with us and in our hearts.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law: Brenda and Norman Clinard of Knoxville, Frieda and Michael Harmon of Johnson City; granddaughters and husband: Michelle and Joseph Baldwin of Knoxville, Ashley and Larry Self of Greeneville, Rachel and Jacob Higginbotham of Johnson City; great grandchildren: Clayton Robert and Susanne Baldwin of Knoxville, Baylee Head of Johnson City, and Adalynn and Lillian Higginbotham of Johnson City; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was the daughter of the late William and Fannie Jones and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Fred Bowers; brothers, Jack, Guy, Jesse and Llewellyn Jones; and sisters, Aileen Trantham, Bertha Brown and Mary Bowman.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Adkins officiating.
Interment will be 1 pm Friday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with Mary Jane Farmer CLP officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Norman Clinard, Michael Harmon, Joe Baldwin, Jacob Higginbotham, Larry Self and J.C. Jones.
The family wished to express a special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Zoe Simmons, and the staff of Laughlin Healthcare Center.
