

He was a retired employee of the City of Greeneville.
Mr. Mercer attended Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include a son: Jack Tilman Mercer of Mosheim; a daughter and son-in-law: Marlene and Jimmy Wykle of Midway; grandchildren: Jessica (Doodie) Naylor and husband, Jonathan, Eric Banks and wife, Janet, Anthony “Buddy” Wykle, and Jacklyn Scott and husband, Brandon; great grandchildren: Gabby Dunow, Makala Dunow, Lily Scott, and Zoey Scott; sisters: Helen Bowers of Dallas, North Carolina, Pearl Landers of Afton, Louise Nance of Greeneville, Lola Mae Nance and husband, Dee, of Bulls Gap, and Lois Shelton of Greeneville; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Robert Mercer and Gene and Betty Mercer of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew: Frankie Moore; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ernal and Linda Landers, Warren and Mildred Landers, Martha and Carson Gentry, and Jeanette Manis; his special friends at Gospel Tabernacle; and a special pet: Frankie.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Nannie Dockery Mercer and preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Landers Mercer, a daughter, Viola “Bootsie” Jennings, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nelson and Elizabeth Landers.
The family will receive friends 12pm-2pm and 4pm-7pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Perry Foshie, Rev. Lynn Mercer, and Rev. Buster Shelton officiating.
Interment will be at 2:00pm Saturday in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00pm Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Moore, Jon Naylor, Brandon Scott, Eric Banks, Anthony Wykle, Jessie Richards, Jimmy Wykle, and Junior Moore.
