He was a retired engineer and a veteran of the US Navy. He attended Christ United Methodist Church where he was a member of the church choir. Richard was an avid music lover with a special affinity for Dixie Land jazz. He loved animals, especially cats and was always willing to shelter any homeless animal.
He is survived by a nephew: Richard (Virginia LaFosse) Lewis of Asheville, NC and a niece: Susan Lewis of Greeneville.
He was the son of the late Henry (Happy) Meade and Helen Alexander Meade. He was also preceded in death by his wife: LuVerna Meade.
There will be no formal services at this time.
