
Mr. Hughes retired from the Dept. of the Navy after 33 years of service as a boiler maker at CNSYD.
He was a member of The Sanctuary in Greeneville, TN.
He was born September 19, 1944 in Charleston, SC
Survivors include his wife of 25 years: Barbara Hicks Hughes of the home; three daughters: Barbie (David) Chinnis,
Terry (Richard) Rushin, and Tonette (Jerry)Wessinger all of Summerville, SC; two sons: Chip (Sylvia) Holmes of Summerville, SC and Richard LaViner of Rockingham, NC; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; five brothers: Charles (Elaine) Hughes, Tommy (Linda) Hughes, Kenneth Hughes all of Summerville, SC, Randy Hughes of Goose Creek, SC and Robert Hughes of Greeneville, TN; three sisters: Marilyn Gabbard of Bulls Gap, TN, Jamie Benton and husband Troy of Goose Creek, SC and Linda Cribb of Hanahan, SC; brother-in-law: Robert Buswell of Silverdale, WA; special cousin: Patricia (Sam) Stewart of Easley, SC.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Marie Taylor Hughes. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy, Billy and Mark Hughes, one sister: Carolyn Hughes Buswell
The funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday at The Sanctuary in Greeneville, TN. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM preceding the funeral service. The Rev. Jeremy Carver will officiate.
The body will be taken to James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S Main Street, in Summerville, SC with visitation Saturday 2-4 PM. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 with the Rev. R.E. Clark officiating.
Private interment will be Sunday in Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
