Survivors include his father: Willis Darrell Shanks of Greeneville; stepmother: Elaine Shanks of Greeneville; two sons: Christopher Murdock of Florida and Jamie Lee Shanks of Oregon; daughter: Sierra Shanks of Oregon; grandson: Ledarius Murdock of Florida; two sisters: Lisa Renee Sams and Frankie Trantham and Carolyn Ann Shanks Marchisella of Greeneville; grandparents: Willis and Carolyn Shanks of Chuckey; three stepsisters: Suzette Sams Flores and spouse Adan of Greeneville, Candida Thorne of Illinois, and Memory Sams of Greeneville; two stepbrothers: Gideon Sams and Roger Grant Sams of Greeneville; sisters-in-law: Chastity Sams and JoAnn Sams; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles; two special aunts: Gypsy Brown and Tina Tolliver; special cousins: Jackie Griffin, Shannon Richards, Natasha Roberts, Nicole Brockwell, Jamie Griffin, and Chandra Shanks Price; special girlfriend: Nancy Wills; special little girl: Kyra Davis; and special friends: Joey Sams and Cindy Jessee.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Lisa Diane Shanks; grandparents: J.D. and Bertha Gosnell; uncle: Roger Shanks; and two aunts: Star Griffin and Debbie Martin.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Clinton Rider and Rev. Bill Swope officiating.
Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Washington County.
His pallbearers will be Joey Sams, Thomas Angel, Daniel Weber, Frankie Trantham, Mark Rider, and Gideon Sams.
