

He was a lifelong farmer. He loved working the land and was the happiest when tilling the land on his tractor.
Mr. Lawson was a member of Bibles Chapel Baptist Church.
He had a very kind heart and was known for always lending a helping hand to others.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Donna Lawson; one grandson: Tommy Lawson; four granddaughters: Wendi Blair, Brandi McIntosh, Misti Anderson and Joanie Henry; three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons; two stepgrandchildren: Ashley Chess and Dakota Chess; one sister and brother-in-law: Mildred and Laton Hawkins; one sister-in-law: Ruby Lawson; several nieces and nephews; and his friends at Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville.
He was the son of the late Roscoe and Emma Sue Lawson and was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years: Colleen Lawson; a brother: Jack Lawson; and a sister: Bettie Sue Lawson.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Donnie Bible will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet Sunday at Fairview Cemetery in the McDonald community for the 1 p.m. committal service.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Byrd, Ronnie Cansler, T. J. Henry, Tommy Lawson, Bo Voiles, and Lewis Pierce.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Darryl Debord and John Murdock.
The family expressed a special thanks to the staff of Erwin Health Care Center.
