

She was a homemaker and farmer.
Mrs. Shelton was a member of Horse Creek Church of God, where she attended as long as her health permitted.
Her hobbies included gardening, canning, and reading her Bible daily.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Ralph and Martha Shelton, Dale and Jennifer Shelton, and Maynard Shelton, all of Chuckey; grandson: Joe Allen Shelton of Chuckey; four granddaughters and two special grandsons-in-law: Marsha and Joe Salyer of Chuckey, Michelle and Allan Hutchinson of Morehead, Kentucky, Darla Shelton of Shelton Laurel, North Carolina, and Teresa Shelton of Tacoma, Washington; three great grandsons: Logan Salyer, Bradley Hutchinson, and Brandon Hutchinson; one great granddaughter: Katy Carter and husband Tim; two sisters: Zettie Shelton of Monroe, Louisiana, and Doris McDermott of Cumming, Georgia; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend: Donna Radford.
Mrs. Shelton was a native of Shelton Laurel, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Woolsey and Doshie Cutshaw King and was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: Edd Shelton; an infant daughter: Gwendolyn Shelton; seven brothers: Robert King, Henry King, Russell King, Corpus King, Raleigh King, Elmer King, and Maloy King; three sisters: Stella King, Vera Lee Shelton, and Betty Blackwell; and one daughter-in-law: Kathy Hogan Shelton.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 am Wednesday, February, 27, 2013 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Allan Hutchinson and Rev. Winfred Shelton officiating.
Interment will follow in B.E. Shelton Cemetery in the Mill Creek Community of Madison County, North Carolina.
Her pallbearers will be Joe Shelton, Joe and Logan Salyer, and Bradley and Brandon Hutchinson.
