

Virgie Campbell Gray, age 100, of Oregon Trail, Greeneville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 4, 2017, at Takoma Regional Hospital. She was a devout Christian who worshiped daily.
She retired from J.C. Penney’s with 43 years of service.
Ms. Gray was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. She loved to send cards and always jotted this down on the card. She was a member of the Beacon Light Sunday School Class and attended her church as long as her health permitted.
She was a long-time member of Eastern Star at Baileyton and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She loved working in her flowers throughout the years.
Survivors include a special niece: Linda Harmon, of the home; one brother: Robbie “Bud” Southerland; three step-daughters: Betty Rader, Janie Solomon, and Eva Gay and Joe Wall of Georgia; one step-son: Grandy and Christine Gray; nieces: Marsha and Conley Riddle, Kay and Duane Anderson of Lake Wales, Florida, Jean McLain, Gale and Rick Tweed, and Sandy Malone; nephews: Phil Babb, Dennis and Diana Southerland, Rae and Janice Southerland, R.T. and Barbara Southerland, Jimmy and Linda Southerland, Frank and Amber Southerland of Tallahassee, Florida, Rick Southerland of Indiana, and Jack and Ann Southerland of Bristol, Tennessee; several special step-grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and many, many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gray; her parents: James Henry and Mable Broyles Southerland; sisters: Geneva Harmon and Lura Babb; brothers: Jay, Bill, Don, Lynn, and Grady Southerland; first husband: Ralph Campbell; and niece: Merrily Elizabeth Babb.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stuart Albee and Pastor Gail Jenkins officiating.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Solomon, Robert Riddle, Scott Felan, Charlie Southerland, Brad Southerland, Mark Malone, Ryan McLain, Mike Britton, and Frank Southerland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 524 Tusculum Blvd., Greeneville, TN 37745.
The family expressed a special thank you to the staffs of Laughlin Health Care and Takoma Hospital.
