

Mr. Gibson attended East Tennessee Free Will Baptist Church until unable to do so. He was an avid Tennessee Vols and Nascar fan. He enjoyed his surprise 90th birthday part in September which he celebrated with his special friends and family.
He was a 20 year retiree of the US Navy (1948-1968) and also retired with 20 years of service from Weavex (Formex).
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Linda and Clifford Williams and Kaye Gibson Shipley, all of Chuckey; granddaughters: Tonya Williams Newton and husband, Matt, of Greeneville and Brooke Shipley Kilgore and husband, Jamie; great grandson: Keyla Marshall Newton; special nephew: James Taylor and wife, Emily, their children, Taegan and Tallon, of Chuckey; and his special friends; Shannon Blake of Chuckey and Evelyn Wisecarver of Greeneville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Frances Swinney Gibson; mother, Grace Nichols; brother, Charles Gibson; and aunt, Muzette Johnson.
The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 8 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be 2 pm Tuesday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the US Navy Military Honors Team will conduct at military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Matt Newton, Shannon Blake, James Taylor, Jimmy Humbert, Paul Ted Gibson, and Patrick Stell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oris Maxey and Steve Renner.
The family wished to express a special thanks to all his physicians and the staffs of Life Care Center of Greeneville and Amedisys Hospice for their special care.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
