Anna Marie LaFontaine

Anna Marie LaFontaine passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the age of 90. Anna now rejoins her beloved husband, Ronald (2015), in the presence of God.

Cherished mother of Edward, Michelle (Michael Glucksman), Matthew (Karen), Roslyn (Tony Contini), Renee (Scott Kennedy), and Paulette (Attila Korga). Anna was a devoted grandmother to Eric (Alicia), Nicholas (Lauren), Stefan, Taylor (Dave Jefferson), Reece (Marissa), Aleisha (Ryan Angst), Emily (Paul Nadstawny), Ashlee (Cody Coffin), Kirby (Zach Ruetz), Eric (Eleanor), Justin (Marisa), and Jeremy (Megan), and a proud great-grandmother to sixteen.

Predeceased by her brother Bill Strub (Georgie), and Jack Strub (Betty).

Born in Elora, Ontario, on November 1, 1934, Anna remained close to her roots throughout her life. She and Ronald built a loving home, raising a beautiful family grounded in faith, kindness, and connection.

Anna will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and zest for life. She had a deep love for gardening, playing cards—especially a good game of "Rack-O"—and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and word searches. Her greatest joy was her family, and she found immense happiness in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.

Anna’s strong faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a devoted member of her church community, regularly attending Mass and faithfully watching the Salt and Light Channel.

Visitation will take place at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, July 20, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. and again on Monday, July 21, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley St., Guelph, on Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation will take place at a later time.

Anna’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
