

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the sudden loss of David Joseph Collins Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in his 63rd year.
Beloved son of Jerry and the late Mary (2021) Collins. Loving brother of Stephen (Angela Fuoco), James (Jennifer), and Karen (Robert M. Munro). Dave will be greatly missed by his niece and nephews, Sean (Linn Wie Anderson), Ryan, Dylan, Ethan and Rory Collins, Rachel and Robert G. Munro; his aunts and uncles, Margaret and Ken Meagher, Austin and the late Joanne Pickett, Gertrude and the late Dave Tremble, the late Marilyn and Fred Crinnion, and the late Paul Collins (Renee); cousins Peter, John, Sandra, Betty-Anne and Tina Pickett, Chris, James and Tracy Tremble, Andrea, Brenda and Kenneth Meagher, Anne and Cathy Crinnion, Joanne, Michael and Siobhan Collins; cousins (once removed) Cardinal Thomas Collins, Catherine and the late Patricia Collins, and close friends Zoran and Dina Djordjevic and Floyd Fraser.
Dave lived a life deeply rooted in faith, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave’s life was a testament of unwavering commitment to his faith. His profound spirituality provided a guiding light, offering strength and solace to those around him. A pillar of faith, David’s beliefs were not just a part of his life but the foundation upon which he built his journey. A journey which was supported and guided by Cardinal Thomas Collins.
A dedicated family man, Dave’s love for his family was boundless. His caring and compassionate nature filled our homes with warmth, laughter and love. Whether through shared moments or heart felt conversations, Dave demonstrated a genuine interest in the lives of those he held dear.
Dave possessed the unique ability to connect with people on a deep and meaningful level. A good person to have a chat with, his conversations were characterized by kindness, empathy and genuine concern for others. His warm compassionate spirit made him a source of comfort and support for many.
Known for his caring heart, humble demeanor, and delightful sense of humor, Dave brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to share his company. His kind words, gentle presence and laughter will be forever cherished by all who knew him.
Dave was an aficionado of wrist watches, seeing them not merely as timekeeping devices but as timeless pieces of art. Dave’s love also extended to the skies, where eagles soared with unmatched grace. Symbolizing strength and freedom, eagles held a special place in Dave’s heart. Dave was also an avid collector and fan of music which provided him with a source of joy and comfort.
At home, Dave’s heart expanded to embrace his beloved pet birds, particularly his cherished budgies, and Sassy his dog.

In honor of Dave’s memory a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 175 Emma Street, Guelph, Ontario. Reception to follow at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin Street N., Guelph Ontario. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Joseph’s Health Center Foundation, the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
