It is with great heartbreak that we announce the passing of David Marchesan on March 29, 2025, peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. David lived his life with purpose, gratitude, and love. He always put his family first and that brought him contentment and peace.
David was the beloved husband to Anita (nee Iancovich) and loving father to Maya and Sara, the light of his life. He was a dedicated son of Rita and Ignazio Marchesan and dear brother to Dan and Irene (Chris). Cherished son-in-law to Barbara Jones, and brother-in-law to Natalie (Matt), Melanie (John), Valerie (Alasdair), Matthew (Sarra), and nieces and nephews. David was a part of a large extended family who will miss him dearly. David valued his lifelong friendships.
David had a wonderful sense of humour that showed his clever observations of the world. He also could always see the beauty of nature and cherished his mediative walks in the forest. He treasured the yearly family vacations to Southampton. A loyal Raptors fan, David followed the team with passion. He was also an exceptional cook. Friends and family knew that he would be just as excited to prepare the food as he was to eat it! In the summer of 2024, David and his family travelled to Italy, where they enjoyed the beauty of the country, the food, and spending time with relatives.
David’s integrity, humour, and appreciation for life will live on in the memories of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and shared memories, and will be deeply missed by all who love him.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Vogel and Dr. Spadafora, nurses Kaitlyn and Laura, the entire Bayshore Team, and the oncology departments at Grand River Hospital and Guelph General Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, ON. A Visitation for David will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM.
