It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Williams (McAlpine) announce her peaceful passing on March 6, 2026, at the age of 85, with her family by her side at the Elliott Community Long-Term Home.
Eleanor was born to George and Isobel McAlpine and grew up on the family farm in Eden Mills, a place that always held a special place in her heart. She later made Guelph her home, where she built a life centered around family, friendship and community.
Eleanor was a proud employee of RBC Royal Bank, where she worked for more than 30 years. She truly enjoyed her work and the many friendships she formed with colleagues over the years.
She took great pride in her beautiful home, where she loved sitting on the front porch watching neighbours pass by. Eleanor always enjoyed a good chat and was known for keeping treats ready for any four-legged visitors out for a walk in the neighbourhood.
Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She loved them deeply and followed their lives with constant interest and pride.
Eleanor will be deeply missed by her daughters Melissa Williams (Jeff) and Pamela Shaver (Paul), and by her beloved grandchildren Ethan, Bella, Alex, Dylan and Jesse, who brought her endless happiness.
Eleanor was predeceased by her brothers Murray (Betty), Bob (Grace) and Donald and will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Joan McAlpine. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at the Elliott, and especially to Brittany and Mel whose kindness, compassion, humor, and gentle care meant so much to Eleanor and to our family. Their warmth, patience, and genuine love for the residents did not go unnoticed. They were truly angels in Eleanor’s life during her final chapter, and our family will always be grateful for the comfort and support.
A special thank you to Sharon & Brian Gregory for your continued love and friendship for the past 50-plus years.
Eleanor’s family will receive relatives and friends at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St., Guelph) on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 10 am – 12 pm. Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm with a reception afterward.
As expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
