Lloyd was a loving father to Eric and Emily, and a devoted brother to Ernie (Brenda), Tom (Dale), Neil (Kelly), and Bev (Larry). He was a cherished uncle to Dana (Wander), Daryl (Kathleen), Brian, Michael and Charley. He was predeceased by his parents, Fraser and Stella Oliver, and his sister, Audrey. Lloyd will be dearly missed by his extended family and many friends.
Born on December 18, 1964, in Buchans, Newfoundland, Lloyd later made his way to Ontario, where he raised his two children and built a life centered around family and the things he loved most. He was a dedicated employee at Flowserve in Guelph and would have achieved 40 years of service on April 16, 2026.
Lloyd had a passion for long, unhurried drives in his convertible Mustang, especially on warm days when the open road called his name. Whether cruising through the countryside or simply enjoying the freedom of the drive, those moments brought him a deep sense of peace and happiness. He found joy in roller skating and was always up for a game or conversation about baseball and hockey, so long as it didn’t involve the Toronto Maple Leafs. Music was another constant in his life, and he loved attending concerts, where he could fully immerse himself in the energy and sound of live performances.
An outdoorsman at heart, Lloyd enjoyed hunting and took great pleasure in time spent in nature. He had a strong interest in auto racing, appreciating both the thrill of the sport and the craftsmanship behind the machines. A devoted fan of classic rock, his playlists were often the soundtrack to family gatherings, road trips, and quiet evenings alike.
Above all, Lloyd cherished time spent with his family and friends. Whether gathered around for a meal, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments meant the most to him and will remain lasting memories for all who knew and loved him.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St., Guelph) on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
In keeping with Lloyd’s spirit, guests are encouraged to wear band t-shirts, auto racing apparel, or sports attire (just not the Leafs).
Donations to Waterloo Regional Health Network – Cancer Research and Clinical Trials would be appreciated by the family.
