Only today did I read of Garry's passing...Please accept my condolences..I worked for many years with Garry at Toronto Air Canada ramp maintenance dept...more specifically were worked together on the B777 aircraft and embraer 190/175...
Garry would always show up to help not only myself but others when turning around aircraft on the gates...He never had to be asked ..he was always there and we all appreciated his help and opinions...,as garry was quite an accomplished and knowledgeable AME ...

Garry "Z" (Zee) as I sometimes called him affectionately.  The photo of his smile captures his spirit nicely.
I worked with Garry over many years at Air Canada.  As mentioned by many,  he was a true professional with a great attitude.  Always a gentleman.
Very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.  
The last time I saw him was at my retirement gathering May 2012.  He wished me well and we shared compliments and a good hand shake.
I sure meant those words of admiration I said to him.
May his memory live on in all his family and friends.

I had the privilege of being paired with Garry for about a year and a half while working the A330’s/A340’s on the ramp in the late ‘90’s.    
It was a pleasure to work with Garry.  He was conscientious about the job and knowledgeable about the airplanes.  We were able to zig and zag in a team fashion to handle the problems as they arose.
We would sometimes split up to manage the workload, backing each other up if either of us ran into unforeseen problems.  He was never more than a simple radio call away.  Garry was very much a team player.
My sincerest condolences go to the family on their profound and untimely loss of such a classy gentleman.

I’ve become incredibly sad by learning of Gary’s passing. 
I worked with Gary for about 15 years on the ramp in Toronto. I can hardly think of AME I looked up to more than Gary. He was one of the best. 
Not only the best at his job, but also the best at teaching the youngsters (like me) on how to be the best AME possible. 
I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends. 
I was very sad when he retired. I’m even more upset at his passing.

I (John)met Garry in the early 70’s in an Aeronautical Engineering Program in Toronto.  We quicky became close friends and had many common interests, mostly with objects that had engines.
During the summers I had been painting houses in the area that I lived in my mom’s house.  Business was booming and Garry grabbed a paint brush, got on a ladder and together we gave the neighbourhood a clean, fresh look. And made some money along the way.  We both owned Mini Coopers, the original tiny version made by British Leyland.  Occasionally we needed a 60 ft ladder to reach a third storey of a house.  That attracted a lot of attention tied to the roof of the 7 ft Mini! We ate soup and sandwiches every day at my mom’s house. My grandfather was always excited to see Garry and have a nice chat.  After lunch we played table top hockey before going back to work. The time spent painting cemented our friendship.  It was a fun, pleasant time with no hassle or politics.  One woman asked how long it would take us to finish painting the house.  We said we could speed up.  She said “no, no slow down. I love having the two of you here”.  She made coffee and baking every morning.  A simple time.  Life was good.
Deb and I married in 1977 and Garry was my Best Man. That same year, Garry and I chose the Northrop Program in Los Angeles to earn our Aircraft Mechanic License. Deb and I arrived in L.A. a few months before Garry.  He lived with us until he found his own place.  We travelled to Northrop and home together every day. When I returned, I was hired by Air Canada within 3 months.  Garry was hired by Air Canada immediately after his return.  He did a fabulous and highly respected job keeping the Air Canada fleet of aircraft fit for 30 years.  
Deb and I have always known how much Mary and his children, Ches and Carly were the centre of his world.  They will always be in our hearts when we remember Garry.  We will always love you, Garry.  You are in our warmest, loving thoughts forever.

Shock is an understatement when I heard of Garys passing from such an evil disease. In all the years I knew Gary he was a true gentleman and always willing to help out. Such a massive loss. My condolences go out to all of Garys family and friends. I was privileged to have known him and worked with him. Rest in peace my friend.

Gord and I feel so fortunate to have met and known Garry for the past few years that we have shared the Dyers Bay shoreline.  Garry was always so warm and friendly, with a beautiful smile to match.  We were always impressed with Garry’s  skills, from growing the most amazing tomato plants to building, by hand!, the best rock wall imaginable.  But more importantly we also knew that Garry was the type of man who would be the first one to lend a helping hand to his neighbours, friends and family.  
Our deepest condolences to you, Mary,  and your family on this painful loss.  We hope you find comfort in knowing that Garry touched the lives of many people and we feel so very lucky to have had time with him.

We have always enjoyed chatting with our neighbours Garry and Mary at Dyers Bay.  Garry was well liked by neighbours along the Bay and was known for his expertise in growing tomato plants.  He very kindly gave me (and others) one of his tomato plants that he had grown from seed and generously shared his gardening knowledge.   Mary and family - please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of this very special person. He will be remembered.

One word comes to mind when Garry's name is mentioned, integrity.  His smile was infectious. I can't remember him having a bad word to say about others. Sadly there is an enormous void left in his passing that will be difficult to fill by those close to him.

Gary was always that special person that you could always go to, to have a discussion about life.  He always had a smile and was there to lend a helping hand. I thought of Gary as a mentor in my early days as a mechanic at Air Canada. He never pushed his solutions but lead you in the right direction.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed.

Garry was a mentor of sorts to myself when I was still in Toronto.
I learned a great deal from him. Not just aircraft, but also an outlook on life. Always a smile and ready with a lending hand if needed. 
The world lost a wonderful person.
Rest in peace Garry, and thank you for all your wisdom and guidance, I never forgot.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Garry’s sudden passing. Forget your “life’s not fair” and “God has a plan” … Garry was far too young and vital to be moving on just yet.
	Although Garry and I grew up several blocks apart, our paths crossed infrequently, due to attending different elementary schools and being “bicycle-bound”. We hooked up in high school and became part of an assorted (a sordid?) cast of characters including W.J., J.B., L.H., S.G. et al, facing high school’s trials and tribulations of teen angst and ennui with camaraderie, experimentation, looniness and occasional reckless abandon, all the while laughing until it hurt - but a good hurt, you know? We were “homies” long before the word “homies” entered the universal lexicon and Garry with his Cheshire-cat grin was always there with and for us.
	But education, work, marriage and (for me) a move across the country eventually conspired against us and we lost touch, in the blameless way that old friends do. I only really knew Garry for less than a decade and can only envy those who knew Garry the man, the husband, the father, workmate and neighbour. And while the flame on my old memory candle occasionally flickers with my aging, many memories of Garry burn as bright as a beacon, and while that light burns, Garry is still here.
	Garry - do NOT rest in peace - you GO, friend!

I was so sorry to hear that Garry had passed away. I worked with him for many years at Air Canada, and he was one of those guys that you could always rely on to be there when you needed a hand. But beyond his work ethic, he was someone that was usually upbeat and fun to be around. That picture of him with a big smile on his face captures him perfectly.

Garry was a cherished part of my life for over 30 years. He celebrated with us at my wedding, always happy to help gut a few salmons, sharpened my knives, and often shook his head with a smile at the antics Carly and I would get up to. Garry could fix anything with his extensive tools and knowledge. Whenever a light came on in my car, Garry was there to diagnose it. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Carly, Mary, and Ches, I love you so very much, and my heart goes out to you and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Garry.

I had the privilege to work with Garry during the last years prior to his retirement. I learned to know Garry as the most kind and friendly person, always available to give a hand. He always had this nice smile on his face.

Cottage neighbours for just over 2 years….
If it wasn’t for our cottage, we would have never had the pleasure to meet Garry and his lovely family.
Thinking we know all about cottage life RIGHT…. well, I guess for both my husband and I, being the professional cottage guests for most of our lives, isn’t quite the same as being an owner!
Needless to say, Garry may have helped with a few ??? along the way.

I will never forget the day I asked Garry, why would anyone put all these rocks back here?
I keep digging and all I find are more rocks.
Now, I know; he is still laughing at that one!
In such a short time, Garry touched our hearts and welcomed us like family from day 1.
A warm and gentle soul that left us way too soon.
He will be missed beyond words can say.

So sorry to hear of Garry's death. A loss way too early.

I had the fortunate opportunity to spend time with Garry in our earlier years on Collingwood Street where we were neighbours;
playing kick the can, hide and go seek, watching fireworks, playing matchbox cars in the Taylor backyard on the wall, having altercations with the various kids from families that couldn't get along with the other neighbours ; Arty W, Gene T, Barry.....

Also had a great experience with Garry during the 1967 Canada Centennial celebrations when we rode our bikes to Collingwood in one day....what an experience.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time of loss.
