Hello John, Connie and I would like to express our condolences for the loss of your father. I know that losing your father is not easy, I can only hope that you have good memories of him that you can carry with you. Looking through photos of mom and dad and coming across so many goofy pictures. This is one of my favourites. Taken at the farmhouse in Chisholm Township.

Dad made this heart of light for mom. After mom passed and he moved to Strathroy he took it with him. He created this tribute to his wife and his siblings. Every evening he would turn on the lights of love.

Dear Timmerman family:

You have my sympathy with Hugh’s passing.  He was a wonderful man.  I knew Hugh as a writer when he joined the Strathroy & District Writers Association.   We had our meetings in the family room of my home then.   All of us took an immediate liking to him and we enjoyed listening to him speaking about his rich life experiences.   I’m expecting his next publication to come from “up there,” where I’m sure he now resides.

Uncle Hugh, you always greeted me with a warm smile and big hug, I thoroughly enjoyed our visits and loved reading the many stories you posted.  I found your knowledge of history and your dedication to the the Terry Fox run very inspiring, May you rest in peace with your beautiful Helen by your side,

What can I say about Uncle Hugh that hasn't already been said or thought by all who knew him. He was a magnanimous, affable gentleman always ready with a story to share. As a kid, I always found his stories very entertaining. As an adult, I appreciated the books he published and the amount of research that must've been required to put them all together (and I still found his stories very entertaining).

I'm especially thankful for the family tree work that he did over the years in collaboration with Hans Timmermans. Hugh provided many in our family with a personalized family lineage back to the 1600s !!! It is something that I cherish and I have added to it since I received it from him decades ago. 

Uncle Hugh, I will always remember you with fondness and love. You will be missed by all who knew you.

I have countless memories growing up visiting my grandparents up north in Meaford. However, I got the privilege to spend a lot of time with my Opa since he had moved in with Case and John. This photo is from a special day that him and I explored together. We went to a book store, a coffee shop, a nice walk and finished a puzzle together. I will always remember that special day I got to have with him. He taught me to slow down and observe. He taught me to question and explore. And he certainly taught me to document anything or anyone that you love. Rest in peace Opa, your grand daughter loves you 🩷

I have many fond memories of Hugh spending many long weekends in Meaford with Case and the kids while they were growing up. I was always impressed with his long distance riding abilities being 40 years my senior, and one weekend, despite not riding on a bike myself in many years, still thought it would be simple enough to ride with Hugh on the trail from Meaford to Thornbury. Well, he left me in the dust with his speed and endurance. My butt hurt for several days after that bike ride, and he rode like it was nothing, just a leisurely ride around the block! You’ll be missed, but I take comfort you’re now with Helen and Bradley. Rest in peace Hugh.❤️
