Laurence’s life on this planet was viewed from a perch encompassing the world and its entirety. His mind maintained its brilliance to the end, leaving a legacy of creativity, innovation and honour. Laurence brought to life countless works and inventions of structural engineering, reflecting the depth of his imagination. His dedication inspired those around him and he has left an example for generations to come.
Laurence is the brother of Ann and the late Allan. We commemorate the life of Laurence, who was born and educated in London, England. He attended Taunton School and graduated from Bristol University in Civil Engineering at the top of his class. His inventions, patents, writings and leading-edge engineering resolutions have contributed greatly to society. The composite elevated water tank, invented by Laurence, revolutionized an industry and continues to be the preferred method of construction across North America.
Laurence was a devoted husband to Millie Wallace-Cazaly, and previously to the late Eva Cazaly. He truly understood the essence of companionship. His love for being a father to his daughter, Alison Cazaly (British Columbia) and his late son, Howard (Howie) Cazaly was profound and ran deep to his core. His role as a stepfather to Marilyn Perry (Calgary) and Janet Correy and Norman (Australia) was equally significant, sharing his wisdom and kindness which helped create a strong family bond. His role as a grandfather brought him joy and pride. The fun and laughter of Stephanie Atkin (Edmonton) and the late Jennifer Atkin, the loving embrace of Graham Perry and Caroline Perry (Calgary), the grit and determination of Wallace Correy, the warm memories of the late Oliver Correy, and the dreams and goals of Marlea Correy (Australia) all found a very special place in his heart.
Through the challenges and triumphs, Laurence painted a canvas of beautiful memories that will continue to inspire and guide all who knew him. We ask you to read and spread the word on Laurence’s published book: “Our Expanding Human Knowledge” to continue to shine the bright light that he was in our lives.
We invite you to join us in celebration to honour Laurence’s memory Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on October 29th, 2023, from 1 – 4pm, with Eulogies at 2pm.
