Lois was the beloved wife of Don Stockton (predeceased) for 51 wonderful years. She was a devoted and loving mother to Linda Stockton Wigmore (Michael), Douglas Stockton, Laurie Stockton (Tom), Debra Stockton (Kirk), and Lisa Stockton (Tony), a cherished Grammy to Amy (Andrew), Sara (Alex), Paul (Tracy), Melissa, Heather, Connor (Brenna), Nolan (Amy), Ryan (Makiya), Kayla, and Hayden; and a proud Great Grammy to Liam, Milo, Natalie, Brianna, Hayley, and Colter. Her family was her pride and her joy, and she gave endlessly to support them in ways both big and small.
Lois will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, and many friends, all of whom felt the warmth of her caring spirit and steady presence.
Trained as a school teacher, Lois’s professional path took a different direction when she welcomed four children in six short years. While this limited her time in the classroom, it never dimmed her love of learning or teaching. For many years she was a devoted stay-at-home mom, playing a central role in running the household and creating a welcoming, loving home where everyone felt supported.
She had a wonderful sense of humour and a deep love of fun, laughter, and shared joy. Whether through a quick wit, a playful comment, or simply delighting in the company of others, she brought lightness and warmth to all of her relationships.
Helping others was not something Lois did occasionally—it was simply who she was. She was actively involved with the Rotary Club, particularly Rotary Exchange, hosting young people from around the world and opening her home and heart to them. Her passion for service continued through more than twenty years of dedicated volunteering at Hospice Wellington. Lois also gave generously of her time through Knox Presbyterian Church, the United Church Women, World Day of Prayer and their Lost Coin Mission program—causes that reflected her deep faith and belief in helping others both within her community and beyond it. She volunteered at Meadowcroft Retirement Home and supported many other community efforts whenever help was needed.
A lover of travel and adventure, Lois visited more than 50 countries over her lifetime. Through many CESO trips with Don, she combined her love of travel with her teaching background, helping children learn English and sharing kindness across cultures.
Above all, Lois lived her faith through action. As those who knew her would agree, she lived as Christ taught—loving deeply, serving humbly, and leaving the world better than she found it. Her legacy lives on through her family, her faith community, and the many lives she touched through her generosity and compassion.
The family will receive their friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Hart Chapel on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the Hart Fellowship Lounge.
