It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maureen Kathryn Inwood, a true warrior who fought with unwavering strength for over a decade. She passed away on October 2, 2025, at home, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and joy.
Throughout her journey, Maureen never gave up. Even in the face of adversity, she always found the silver lining, offering quick wit and a radiant sense of humor that lifted those around her and never failed to make you laugh.
Though her career was brief, it was nothing short of remarkable. Maureen served as Head Lifeguard at Cleveland’s House, a Rehabilitation Counselor for individuals with brain injuries, an autism consultant, and a caregiver for children requiring palliative support. She studied linguistics and communications disorders and was fluent in sign language.
Maureen also raised puppies for National Service Dogs, combining her love of animals with a commitment to service. An avid crafter, she found joy in creating beauty with her hands and sharing it with others.
Maureen is loved, terribly missed, and survived by her mother Joan; her sister Shannon; her nephew Logan and her niece Audrey; her beloved furry companion Marley; and a very large and loving extended family and group of friends. Maureen was predeceased and welcomed by her father Paul Inwood; her grandparents, uncles, and aunts, her furry companions Cashew, Peanut, Patchet, and Olivia; and close family and friends who she loved dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, on Friday October 24, 2025, from 1:00-4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lupus Ontario, Canadian Cancer Society, or National Service Dogs (NSD) in Maureen’s memory.
