Nino Scapinello

Loving husband to Mary Scapinello of 50 years. Beloved father of Derek (Stefanie), Paul (Andrea), as well as a happily spoiled opera of canaries and charm of finches. Cherished nonno to Mateo, Sam, Gia, Max, and special daddy to his lovebird Lola. Dear brother of Lorenzo Scapinello (Clara), and Walter Scapinello (the other Mary). Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe Scapinello, and Malvina Scapinello (née Pozzobon). Will be missed by his many friends, former colleagues, and extended family.

Nino emigrated from Castelminio as a teenager. Through hard work he succeeded in bringing his parents and 2 brothers to join him in Guelph 2 years later. Nino was a gentle, caring man with a sense of humour. Also, a nurturer of plants, animals, and people of all ages. He was passionate about his many interests which were not limited to his garden, his grandchildren, his fruit trees, playing bocce with his long-time friends, his OTHER garden, his birds, his flower garden, going for strolls with his cherished wife, and winemaking. He truly had a passion for birds, gardening, and loved animals. When he was rarely caught relaxing, he'd often be watching F1 racing or soccer. He was an aficionado of classic cars.

He was a member of the ICC for 48 years. His Monday/Wednesday coffee meetups with his long-time close friends were a highlight of his week. He was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbours. He especially loved spoiling his 4 young grandchildren and conspiring with them.

Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St N, Guelph. A Visitation will take place on Thursday October 12, 2023, from 6-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Parish, 45 Victoria Rd N, Guelph, on Friday October 13, 2023, at 10:30am. Entombment and reception to follow.
