This week the world lost a most kind and caring human being. Someone who cared deeply for her family, friends, work colleagues, as well as complete strangers. Mom was born during the great of depression in Toronto to Ruth Kerr Lawton and Alfred Lawton on July 18, 1934. She passed away suddenly in Guelph Aug 13, 2024, 10 months after her beloved husband Robert Michael Liptrap. She leaves behind daughter Kimberley Ann (Dan) and son Robin Scott. Starting her working life as a teacher, Mom continued to expand her world by completing her MSc, all while balancing her roles as wife and mother. She went on to contribute significantly to the field of Credit Counseling in Guelph. In retirement, Mom completed the end to end challenge of the Bruce trail with her group the WRECS (walking, reading, exercise, camaraderie), travelled the world with Dad and created beautiful fiber arts pieces with a local textile art group. Throughout her entire life the thing Mom enjoyed the most, was to visit and connect with family and friends, whether over meals, walking, traveling or attending concerts. She was devoted to her husband and children and touched many lives in her 90 years. Mom will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
In memory of Patricia donations to Multiple Myeloma Cancer Research, Guelph Arboretum or the University of Guelph, would be appreciated.
