Sandra Delaine Howlett (nee Cruickshank) passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family in Calgary, Alberta on February 18, 2026 in her 81st year. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to family.
Sandra was born in Brantford, Ontario on April 20, 1945. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James (2018), parents Gordon and Jean Cruickshank and brother Darryl Cruickshank. She was the beloved mother of Tim (Teresa), the proud Grandmother of Austin (Hannah) and Owen (Kathleen), and the cherished Great-Grandmother of Luca, who all brought her so much joy. She is also survived by her sister Colleen Davis.
On January 21, 1972, Sandra’s life changed forever when she adopted Tim at just four months old - the day she became a mother. This was a role she cherished above all else. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her two grandsons, Austin and Owen, and most recently her precious great-grandson, Luca. They all brought endless light to her life.
Sandra spent the majority of her family years in Guelph, Ontario where she worked for many years in the Philosophy Department at the University of Guelph. She later moved to Alberta to be closer to her son Tim and his family, where she built meaningful friendships and became a valued member of her community.
Sandra and Jim shared a love of adventure and together they travelled across Canada in their motorhome, creating countless memories. She will be remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit.
Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort in the memories she left behind. Her kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
Please join us to celebrate Sandra on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Hart Chapel located at 1099 Gordon Street in Guelph. Visitation will take place from 9:00am to 11:00am.
