Beloved wife of Domingo for 52 cherished years, Tess was the heart and soul of her family — a devoted mother to Dean, Raymund (Nadia), Christian, and Ken (Kate); and a proud Lola to Sofia, Ella, Emerson, Jonah, Vivianne, Karina, and Amadeo. Daughter of Anita and the late Constantino Cruz, and loving sister to Virgilio, Freddie, and Connie, Tess was the hub of a dispersed but close-knit family and a steady presence in the lives of many relatives and friends.
Tess and Dom’s remarkable love story began in Baguio, where they first fell in love. Though circumstances once separated them, destiny reunited their hearts, and together they built a family filled with love, courage, and resilience.
With an unwavering determination to give their family the life they deserved, Tess and Dom took bold steps that carried them across the world — from the Philippines to Zambia, to California, and finally to Guelph, Ontario. In every place she lived, Tess had the extraordinary gift of creating a home that extended far beyond her own walls. She nurtured lasting friendships, built supportive communities, and left behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and faith.
Her favorite reminder was always, “God is good,” a reflection of the faith that sustained her throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Friends will be received from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph, followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Wellington or to the London Health Sciences Foundation.
