Thomas Francis Funk

Tom was the devoted husband of Jane for 55 wonderful years, and a loving father to Justin (Elisha). Tom took immense pride in being Grandpa to Isabelle and Frederick, cherishing every moment spent with them.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings Chris (Jackie), Margaret (Joe), and Rev. Alan, and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Rosemary.

A respected Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph, Tom dedicated over 35 years to teaching in Agricultural Marketing in the Ontario Agriculture College (OAC) and the Department of Consumer Studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels. As the founding Director of the MBA in Agriculture program, he helped shape the future of the sector. Tom also held adjunct faculty positions at his alma mater, Purdue University, in Indiana, and at the Ivey Business School at the Western University. An inspiring educator, Tom was beloved by his students and colleagues alike, leaving a profound and lasting influence on countless lives.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Cutten Fields Golf Club. He was also a committed member of the Rotary Club of Guelph since 1982, serving as Past President and contributing meaningfully to his community. When not golfing you would likely find Tom’s eyes and ears glued to the television watching his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.

Friends will be received on Thursday, April 9 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 am at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 29 Norfolk St. Guelph, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Cremation, private interment.
