Very sad to just hear of Aditya's passing. We were good friends growing up and attending school together at Dartmouth Academy. I would see him often again while studying at Dalhousie University and then years passed before we were in touch again briefly. He was a very fine man who I have always held in very high regard. Condolences to his family, his parents, and to his brother Harsh.

Did not know until today about Dr. Mishra,s passing.  I was his patient in Sydney and Halifax.  He was such a caring and wonderful person.  Once a year I would see him and tell him he was getting better looking every year, he always replied that he had to take a closer look of my eyes, I'm so shocked and Saddened to hear of his passing. I was do saddened today to hear of Dr. 
Mishra's passing! I had not heard before now! I saw him at the VG eye clinic at least once a year and was so warmed by his quiet, gentle manner! He will certainly be missed by all you knew him both professionally and personally. My condolences to all his family and may he rest in peace!

Today I learned of the untimely passing of Dr. Mishra. During his practice in Sydney, Cape Breton, I was fortunate to be his patient for some years and was disappointed to lose him to Halifax. He was a loving husband and father to his two sons of whom he was very proud. I extend my most sincere sympathy on his loss to them and to his brother. May he rest in peace.

Dr Mishra was one of my teachers and mentors. I have been thinking lately about what I have learned from him. Although the topics were officially neuro-ophthalmology and surgery, he taught me far more than that. He was consistently respectful and fair to patients, their families, colleagues and learners. He treated me like a peer when I was a junior resident. He was encouraging and supportive. He was calm, thorough, careful, and rational in the most challenging of scenarios.  He could also find joy and humour in the busyness of a work day and wouldn't hesitate to chuckle or give a bright smile. He is missed by our medical community and our hearts are heavy. My thoughts go out to his family and friends who knew him best.

I was so sorry to have been away and missed hearing of Dr Mishra's passing and also the service.  I worked for many years with Dr Mishra and he is undoubtedly the model to which all physicians and surgeons should aspire.  He was unquestionably competent, compassionate and kind to patients and staff alike.  His infectious smile and calm, quite personality set the tone for his operating room and guaranteed a good day for everyone involved.  We have missed him tremendously since his illness and his quiet, no fuss acceptance of his condition made it impossible for us to express to him personally how much he meant to us.  Let it be known that his status on the top rung, of the ladder of favourite doctors, will last in our hearts forever.

I knew Adit as the model physician. In fact he could have been the official poster boy for the the Royal College CanMeds competencies that medical doctors aspire to achieve. 
Medical expert (Adit was unquestionably brilliant as a diagnostician and management strategist) ; communicator (his patients were listened to and they understood what was going on); collaborator (oh how I loved sharing a patient with him - such clarity of purpose and responsibilities); leader (as director of the consult service for many years); health advocate (for his reminders to everyone that we needed balance in our lives); scholar (no one was better prepared or better able to write an exam); and professional (collegial, statesmanlike and he dressed the part). 
Adit  was a fabulous doctor and will be greatly missed, but remembered. He certainly enriched my experience as a colleague. 
Vinita, my sincerest condolences to you, your sons and family. I know he was much more than a great doctor to you.

We all are mourning the loss of Aditya Mishra: a son, brother, uncle , husband ,father and  my childhood friend. He had a smile so pure and was helpful and generous with his time to anyone he met. So sad to see Aditya's passing, I use to babysit him and his brother Harsh many years ago, they both were just toddlers...his Dad, Dr. Mishra (senior) was my dad's doctor for years, until Dr. H. He was a resident when I first worked at the Halifax Infirmary in the late 80's- early 90's and when I returned to Halifax in 2001 and started working back in the Ophthalmology Dept in 2002 I had the the privilege to assist him in surgery. I just found out today of Aditya's passing. I'm in Washington DC and I am so sorry that I can't make it for the memorial. I would have wanted to pay respects to one of my oldest friends and to reach out to his children with positive memories I have had of Aditya. I have so many. I first got to know him when we were together as undergraduates at Dalhousie. We spent a lot of time together playing badminton. He was my favorite partner. I used to cream him badly in those early years but he would never give up. He improved and he became a challenge to play with often beating me. He was a quiet competitor. Unassuming. We both joined the same medical fraternity and we maintained a close relationship as we went through our respective programs. He was one of the few people I could confide in through many a trouble I had in those years. I liked his boyish naivete, his obsessive intelligence and his love of family. It is sad to know he suffered such a long time though I am sure he had the best of care.  His quiet legacy continues and his spirit will live with our memories of him. I'm going to hug my own kids a little more today.
