

Agnes Jean Barnstead, 95 of Halifax, passed away December 25, 2011. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie Evans. Agnes was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion. She was graduate of Halifax Conservatory of Music and taught piano for many years. She was Past President of the Halifax IODE. She was an active member of Ashburn Golf Course and Mayflower Curling Club. Agnes loved a game of bridge. Agnes enjoyed being near the water and family gatherings with a good story being told. Survived by sons, John and Rosemary Barnstead, Hampton NB, Robert and Dorothy Barnstead, Dartmouth; Survived by daughter Glenda and Dr.Cliff Murray, Halifax, Grandchildren: Murray grandkids: Scott, Doug, Jennifer, Stephanie, Stuart; Barnstead grandkids: Philip, Jayne, Katie; Many great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Predeceased by husband, the late Dr. E. Wilfrid Barnstead; Predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Bill and Jack Evans. Visitation will be held at J.A Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS on Thursday, December 29th from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held at J.A Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS on Friday, December 30th at 10am. Rev. Nelson Metcalfe officiating. Burial to take place in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Feeding Others of Dartmouth “Margaret’s House”.
