MACISAAC, Alexander Joseph ( Sandy) – 72, of Enfield, formerly of Bedford and Fall River, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Timmons, Ontario, he was the eldest son of the late Alex Dan and Frances (MacDonald) MacIsaac. In Sandy’s younger years, he worked with his father in the construction industry. Sandy loved to tell everyone of his work on the original Halifax Infirmary and the Mother House at Mount Saint Vincent University. He worked for Maritime Ontario as a truck driver which he enjoyed very much and loved to share his trucking and Police stories. Sandy joined and was part of the Halifax Police Department for 25 years, then retired due to health issues in 1986. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement life, looking forward to his R.O.M.E.O. Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) lunches where they bragged about Police work "in the good old days". Sandy played in the 5th Field Engineer Regt. marching band, although his first music love was Cape Breton fiddle music, his favourite musician being his younger brother Dave. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he was very proud to talk about their achievements and antics. One of Sandy’s favourite pastimes was to watch the Blue Jay games with his son-in-law Joe. Sandy will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour, stories and his daily trips to the Irving Big Stop and Tim Horton’s for coffee with his friends. He is survived by daughter Denise (Joe) Pero, of Enfield; son Alex (Cynthia), of Middle Sackville; sister Heather (Eddie) Cameron of Lake Ainslie; brothers David and Donnie, both of Halifax, Michael (Theresa) of Dartmouth, and Jackie (Cathy) of Bridgewater; six grandchildren: Ryan, Jackson, Camden, Marcus, Marshall and Mason; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty of 41 years, sister Barb Smith (Bob), and a brother Greg (Sheila). Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Friday, August 5th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday August 6, at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield N.S. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
