

Age 67, of Timberlea, passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, April 21, 2014 with his family by his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Lillian (Warner) and Alex E.B. Nickerson. He attended Saint Mary’s University and, prior to his retirement, Paul had been a high school teacher spending most of his distinguished career teaching at Sir John A MacDonald High School. In his free time, Paul enjoyed sailing, skiing, motorcycling, travelling the world, summers at his cottage in Hubbards, winters at his cottage in Florida, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his dear cousins. He was active in his community as a member of both the Armdale Yacht Club and NS Yacht Squadron. Paul is survived by his son, Craig Nickerson; his daughter, Victoria (Andrew) McFarlane; partner Maggy McInnis; and beloved grandsons, Felix and Atticus McFarlane. He was predeceased by his second son, Alexander Nickerson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place in J. A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax from 7-9 pm on Thursday April 24. A celebration of life for Paul will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 25, at St. James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to Bide Awhile Shelter or the charity of your choice.
