Amelia Louisa "Mildred" James

Born in Burnt Islands, NL to Emmaline and Richard Hardy, Millie was orphaned at the age of 9. At age 12 she moved to North Sydney to find work.

She married Percy James of Burgeo, NL and raised three children, Marion(Guy), Percy Jr. (Beryl), and Carolyn. They would have celebrated seventy years of marriage on October 21st 2010. She was further blessed by granddaughters Cheryl, Karen, Dana, Terri and Amy. Eight great-grandchildren and one great- great grandson.

She was predeceased by her brother James(Jim)Hardy and sister Viola McGlone.

She was a member of St Georges Gabriel Guild.

Throughout her life Millie`s door was always open and there was always enough in the pot to feed one more. She taught her children the value of hard work and pride in accomplishment. She leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.

Visitation will take place on Thursday September 9th, 7-9 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, N.S. with funeral service Friday, September 10th, 11 am at the same location.

Family flowers only. Donations in Millie`s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association and the CNIB.
