

CONRAD (Jenkins), Ann
June 6th, 1943 - February 6th, 2017. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ann Conrad (Jenkins), 73. Ann was born in Halifax, the only daughter of the late Robert C. Jenkins, and the late Catherine Jenkins (MacDonald).
She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Phillips Conrad.
Ann was a graduate of Queen Elizabeth High School and Dalhousie University. She was a devoted member of St. John's United Church on Windsor Street, where she sang in the choir for many years.
Music and singing were two pillars of her life, and over the years she sang with the Chebucto Community Singers, for whom she was the librarian, the Tattoo Chorus, and many others. From 1991-1993 she served as the manager of the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and for many years she was on the Board of Opera Nova Scotia.
Besides this, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and a regular and enthusiastic bridge player.
A loving and attentive wife and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Laura Conrad (Justin Vibbard) of Sarasota, Fla., and son, Peter Conrad (Nikta Aghaipour) of Vancouver, B.C. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14th, in St. John's United Church located in the Lilian Piercy Hall of the Maritime Conservatory of Music, 6199 Chebucto Rd., Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra or Opera Nova Scotia.
