It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Marie Gallivan (nee Ryan), age 63, at the QEII Hospital on May 31st, 2017 after a short illness. Anna was, and will always be, an integral part of our family and will be sorely missed.
Anna was born on December 22, 1953 and grew up in Lower Prospect, Nova Scotia. She worked for many years at Henry Schein Arcona. She is predeceased by her father, Harold “Dick” Ryan. She is survived by her husband Jack Gallivan, son Christopher “Chris” Gallivan and son Ben (Briony) Gallivan; mother Rosalie Ryan; three sisters, Lois (Brian) Pople, Joanne (Mark) Scott and Sandi (Tim) Slaunwhite; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Anna doted on her “little angles”, grandchildren Molly, Lily, and Juniper Gallivan and looked forward to their weekly Skype visits.
Anna will always be remembered for her wonderful, spirited sense of humour, her enthusiasm for travelling and most of all her love of friends and family. She enjoyed the warm summer months and Christmas above all else. She was a storyteller who could mimic anybody, tell stories in her own unique way and above all else make us laugh and see the beauty in life even when it was obscured by the grim realities of living. Anna was very proud of her family, especially her sons and their accomplishments. She was not only a great wife, mom, daughter, sister, nana and aunt, but she was also a dear friend who consistently put everybody’s needs above her own, a trait she held onto until the very end. She was always there to help her family in any way she could.
The family would like to thank the nurses at 8.1 for their great care and compassion during her final days. In accordance with Anna’s wishes, there will be no funeral. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the charity of your choice.
