Anne was born in Halifax, NS, on April 15, 1972. She moved to Calgary, in 1998 after graduating from St. Mary’s University with a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Human Resources. Anne worked in Human Resources at many companies, including Amoco/BP, Penn West, Talisman, Nutrien, and currently at Trans Mountain. She was a leader and mentor to many throughout her career.
Anne was predeceased by her loving mother, Margaret Higgins (Halifax, NS). She is survived by her father, Terrance (Terry) Higgins, (Halifax, NS); her sisters, Beth Higgins (St. John’s, NL) and Amy; brother-in-law, Peter, and nephew and niece, William and Nina Bienkowski (Ottawa, ON). She was also the best “nieces to pieces” to her wonderful Aunts Maureen, Helen, Kathy, and Nancy. She leaves behind many uncles and cousins as well.
She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Gerald and Helen Smeltzer (Kentville, NS); parental grandparents Frank and Winifred Higgins (Lower Sackville, NS); and step-grandmother Gemma Higgins (Lower Sackville, NS).
She was a loyal daughter and sister. She received her resiliency and positive outlook on life from her mother whom she greatly missed. She enjoyed spending time with her family on trips to Halifax, Cape Breton, PEI, Banff, and gathering annually at Christmastime for skating, games, crafts, and holiday movies in Ottawa. She loved being an aunt to William and Nina and they loved her immensely.
Anne loved Calgary and had a strong bond with her many special friends. They enjoyed travelling, going to trivia nights, hosting annual Oscars parties, playing board games, and dancing the night away. Anne was a vibrant, kind person, and always had a smile on her face. Anne had an eye for fashion and could always be counted on to be wearing a colourful outfit that would brighten any room. Anne was not one to miss a sale or a good shopping trip and often had Aunt Kathy by her side on their adventures.
