It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Wadih Metlege, who peacefully left this world at the age of 95. Anthony was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of love for family and faith in God.
Born in Diman, Lebanon, Anthony’s life led him down many paths. He ultimately immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia through Pier 21 on August 8, 1955, where he would place his roots with his wife, Nouha. Through humble beginnings he worked hard to assimilate into a Canadian culture and became a successful entrepreneur. Anthony has built a beautiful life for his wife and five children through his determination and resilience.
Tony had a passion for celebrating life to the fullest and always counting his many blessings. Everyday he looked forward to drives with his son Tony, inspecting all the construction sites around town. He loved traveling, either to visit his hometown or to Las Vegas. But, his greatest pleasure was enjoying a meal prepared by Nouha, surrounded by his family.
Anthony shared his life through his many stories that span almost a century. Anthony’s greatest teaching in life was that nothing should come before family. He was a living example of unconditional love and the importance of nurturing strong family bonds. He modelled this through his unwavering love for his wife, Nouha, who he adored. Anthony and Nouha never left each other’s side and have set the best example for everyone around them.
Anthony’s impact reached far beyond his immediate circle. His legacy of compassion and integrity will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the many life lessons he imparted.
A dedicated family man, Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Nouha (Tannous), of 58 years, his children, Rhonda (Nassim) Ghosn; Esther (John) Ghosn; Rose (Daniel) Chedrawe; Tony (Julie) Metlege; Natalie (Mark) Nahas; his 11 grandchildren and his great grandchild; his brother, Andrew (Sana); sisters, Nabett Ahmar, Souad (Samir) Bassil; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Wadih & Esther Metlege and his dear brothers, Youssef (the late Georgette), and Steven (Houda).
May Anthony Wadih Metlege rest in eternal peace, his spirit forever alive in the hearts of those he touched.
