With sadness, the family of Arnold Patrick Kelly, aged 76, announce his passing on Saturday, February 25th. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Betty (DeGruchy) of Halifax, his son Michael of Halifax, his daughter Christine of Halifax, and 4 Granddaughters who he cherished and was so proud of; Kelly, Alyssa, Erin, and Amanda, all of Halifax. He is also survived by brothers, Ted (Judy), Weldon, and Wayne all of Halifax as well as sister Lynda (Dave Lutwick) of Enfield. He was predeceased by brother Lewis and in-laws Bill and Jane DeGruchy.
A Fairview Boy all of his life, Arnold was a hard working man whose main priority and focus was always his family. Enjoying the satisfaction of building and fixing things, Arnold attended Halifax Regional Vocational School where he subsequently began a long career as a tradesman; starting in bricklaying and moving into electrical. In partnership with his brother, they started Kelly Electric which they operated for 35 years.
A longtime supporter of the Montreal Canadians, Arnold was an avid hockey fan at all levels, coaching and supporting Minor Hockey. Another of Arnold’s interest was the family cottage that he built outside of Bridgewater Nova Scotia, which was a family gathering place and host to numerous family memories
