Arthur 'Art' Drisdelle

Born in Joggins Mines, NS, he was the son of Timothy Drisdelle and Obeline Gallant, stepson of Alida Cormier.

Art worked in coal mines in Springhill from 1945 – 1955. Upon moving to Halifax, he started work in a construction company as a carpenter which led to him forming his own company in 1967. He worked in this field for many years and at different times had his sons working with him. He was also a great volunteer spending many days at horseshoe and cribbage events. He enjoyed working with wood; making horseshoes, boxes/containers and bird feeders. His other interested included reading and was always known at the dances for his love of dancing. He will always be remembered and admired for his honesty, integrity and loyalty to his family.

Survived by his daughter, Pamela (Ted Burchell); sons, Ivan (Patricia), Henry (Jennifer Oake), Victor (Rosemary), Doug (Gail); sisters, Cecilia (Ken Doucette), Elizabeth May, Yvette (Harry Buckley), Dorita (Patrick LeBlanc); brother, Gerald (Dora), Valerie (Sue); companion for the last 2 ½ years, Donna MacDonald; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by Nola Drisdelle, wife of 66 years and sister, Doris (Benoit).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30 from 7-9 pm and memorial service on Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 am, both in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Hfx. (455-0531). The Rev. Don Shipton officiating. Reception to follow at the Golden Age Club, 212 Herring Cove Rd. Cremation has taken place. Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
