
Earle Levy passed away at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Home in Halifax. Born in Halifax July 4, 1922 he was the first child of the late Wallace and Ethel (Dean) Levy. He was predeceased by his second wife Irene Jacquard.
He is survived by his brother Raymond, his first wife Jessie Nutter and their three daughters Thelma (David) Fraser, Montague, PEI, Nancy (Jim) Stevenson, Bedford, Donna (Curtis) D’Entremont, Hlfx., grand-children Earle, Amy and Heather Fraser, Maggie (Stevenson) Barnhill, Ben Kean, four great-grandsons and one great-grand daughter. Also left to mourn his loss are Billy Bowser, who Earle always thought of as “his young fellow”, Greg Jacquard and their families.
Earle, a veteran of World Two, was with the Halifax Police Force for fourteen years before going into the family business Dean’s Flowers, founded by his grandfather Arthur Dean. Earle managed Bo-K Flowers and House of Flowers and helped to grow Dean’s until it was at one time the largest flower business east of Montreal. After selling the business, Earle enjoyed his retirement in Nine Mile River were he developed a passion for antique cars attending Maritime car shows almost every summer week-end with his 1955 yellow Mercury Monclair convertible. He was a life member of Burns Masonic Lodge #10 Halifax from 1953 -2008. Cremation has been entrusted to Snow’s Funeral Home. There will be no visitations or funeral at Earle’s request and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
