Audrey "Pearl" May Shubley

SHUBLEY, Audrey (Pearl) passed away on August 18, 2021 at the age of 94. She was born in Halifax to parents Lorena (Lantz) and John O’Flynn. Pearl was a homemaker who raised her family while running a boarding house and tending to the needs of many young women from across the province over many years. She also ran an at home day care for several children including most of her grandchildren. She was generous with her time, energy and anything she had to help others. She had numerous foster children in countries around the world. She was headstrong and opinionated, which was balanced out by her kind heart. Pearl is survived by daughters Sharon (Tiny) Robinson and Susan Evans, daughter in law Sally Blackburn , sister Colleen Champagne (Pierre); brother in law William Hanson; sisters in law Bernice O’Flynn and Rosetta O’Flynn, her grandchildren , great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Neil Shubley and husband Frank Blackburn; brothers John and Patrick O’Flynn; sister, Maureen Hanson; children Danny (Jeepers) Blackburn, Lorena (Tinker) Blackburn, Bernadette Shubley; son in law, Thomas Robinson and grandsons, Christopher Robinson and Kenny Kumar.

Pearl’s life was not one of ease, nor privilege. Every success was hard earned, appreciated and shared. She took pride and pleasure doing for others. She will be remembered fondly by many. We hope her spirit rests easy.

The family offers much thanks to the staff at Maplewood Long Term Care Home for providing Pearl a place where she felt loved and well cared for during her final years. These people are angels who live among us.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday August 26, 2021 at 2:00pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Due to Covid 19 restrictions space will be limited. Please call 902-455-0531 to pre-register your attendance at the service. Masks will be required. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed the link will be available on the funeral home website.
