Barb is survived by her children: Shirlee, Darryl, Stephen (Sherri), and Karla (Marc); grandsons Jacob and Max; and her brother Roy. She was predeceased by her husband Leon “Junior,” her parents, and sisters Gladys and Alberta.
Barb and Junior worked tirelessly together along with their sons building Ace Towing. The business led to knowing many people and developing friendships that spanned great distances. Many employees over the years found themselves calling her mom. She had an unwavering work ethic and a heart of gold.
She loved spending time with her grandsons and enthusiastically joined them in new adventures, including camping and ziplining. Barb made memories cruising and traveling to Mexico with them.
Barb shared a special, long-time friendship with her American “sister,” Carol. Together, they made countless memories over the years in Halifax, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Florida, celebrating many of life’s milestones together.
In recent years, she cherished her brother Roy and sister-in-law Rose’s return to Halifax. She looked forward to their weekly Wednesday visits—not only for their company and support but also for the treats they always brought.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff of Unit 7.4 for their exceptional care and compassion they provided over the past month. Your kindness, support, and dedication brought great comfort to Barb during her final days.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J A Snow Funeral Home. Visitation to celebrate Barb will take place on Monday May 19, 2025 from 6-8 pm in J A Snow Funeral Home.
