

LARSEN, Betty Margaret – 72, of Sambro, N.S. passed away peacefully at home August 25, 2010 following a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Jens and Patricia Odegard (Heighton/Connolly) of Glen Haven N.S.
Betty started working at the age of 14, at the hotel in Glen Haven, N.S. followed by positions she fondly remembered at Moir’s, M T & T, Canada Permanent Trust, Avis, and Acadian Woods and Cabinets. She thoroughly enjoyed being a Nanny and caregiver to several Halifax and New England families for many years. She was a very devoted mother and loved to read and travel, having lived in the U.S., Norway, Germany, Belgium, and Africa.
She is survived by daughter: Dawn (James) Tanner, Lapland, N.S., sons: Eirik (Elizabeth) Larsen, Williamswood, N.S., Jeffery (Leslie Lowther) Larsen, Sambro, N.S., sister Kay Tanner, Hackett’s Cove, N.S., brothers: Carl Odegard, Wallace Lake, N.S., Donald (Eleanor) Odegard, Glen Haven, N.S., beloved grandchildren Sonja, Christian, and Eirik Lester, and her estranged husband, Eirik Larsen of Lunenburg, N.S.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, N.S. on Sunday, August 29th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery; French Village, N.S.
