Born in Halifax April 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Olive (Ellison) and Stanley McDonald. Educated at St. Agnes where she received a scholarship to The Convent of the Sacred Heart, Carol later attended Saint Mary’s University.
While raising 3 children, Carol worked part-time for Sears Canada, then full-time, ending her career as Manager of the Catalogue Centre. Raised in Halifax, Carol and Darryl lived in Armdale and then moved to Bedford when they both retired to be closer to their grandchildren so “Nan” could look after them while their parents worked. Carol’s priority was her family. She loved family dinners, first those hosted by her mother, then by her, and finally by her oldest daughter, Bev. She was happiest surrounded by her family.
Carol was predeceased by her amazing parents and brother, Edward (Eddie). She is survived by husband, Darryl of 57 years; daughters Beverley (Bob) Grant and Kelly(Donny Lancaster) Clark; her “favourite” son, Stephen Clark; grandchildren Katie, Becky, and Robbie Grant; sister Sharon(Jim) Bellefontaine; brothers Wayne(Diana) MacDonald, Eric “Rick” and David(Barb) McDonald; 10 nephews, 3 nieces, grand-nieces and nephews, many relatives and friends.
Thanks to all the wonderful ICU nurses and doctors. Cremation has taken place. A mass and reception will be held at Carol and Darryl’s church, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 26 Purcells Cove Road in Halifax on April 17, 2017 at 10 am.
